World No Tobacco Day: Smoke-free Women
World No Tobacco Day, sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and observed globally on May 31, encourages people to give up all tobacco products for a 24-hour period. This year’s theme focuses on global tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship.
According to the World Health Organization, women make up about 20 percent of the world’s 1 billion smokers. Women looking to kick the smoking habit can find a wealth of information on the “Smoke-free Women“ website. The organization intends to help those who smoke or their loved ones quit smoking and is designed to provide information about topics that are often important to women. The site offers resources to help women stop smoking and lead a healthier life by providing resources, articles and support.
If you’re trying to quit smoking, visit the Smoke-free Women website and make the pledge to go Tobacco Free on May 31.
