Report Shows Lung Cancer Rates Decline
ACS-SU2C Collaboration: First Joint Project Involves Lung Cancer Research Grant
The American Cancer Society (ACS) and Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) have joined forces in the fight against cancer in the United States. The first collaborative effort announced is a $20 million research project called the “Dream Team” focused on lung cancer.
John R. Seffrin, Ph.D., chief executive officer of the American Cancer Society said, “This alliance marries the Society’s comprehensive cancer-fighting mission with SU2C’s high-impact funding model. Collectively, the Society and SU2C can push ahead more quickly with cutting-edge research on some of the most deadly cancers, all for the benefit of patients.”
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for both men and women. It is estimated that 3,320 Oklahomans will be diagnosed with lung and bronchial cancer this year, according to a recent report by the American Cancer Society.
