June is Men’s Health Month

A time dedicated to raising awareness and promoting education around the prevention and early detection of health issues and diseases affecting men, June is Men’s Health Month. Each year, the Men’s Health Network and health care organizations across the country participate by offering screenings, educational health fairs and community outreach activities.

Here’s how you can get involved:

Wear blue. The Men’s Health Network created the initiative to support men’s health efforts. Show your support in your own community by wearing blue or organizing a Wear Blue event.

Spread the word. Encourage your male family members, friends and coworkers to attend annual physician appointments and seek medical advice when necessary.

Get active. Organize a fitness event to get the men in your life moving.

Know the risks and symptoms of conditions that commonly affect men. Heart disease, stroke, diabetes and prostate cancer are the leading health issues facing men today. A frequently treated disease at Oklahoma CyberKnife, you can learn more about prostate cancer and treatment options such as CyberKnife® in our blog series.

For additional resources, visit the Men’s Health Resource Center.

This is not intended as medical advice to replace the expertise and judgment of your health care team. It is intended to help you and your family make informed decisions, together with your doctor.
