How does CyberKnife Track Your Tumor?
During the initial consultation visit with a potential new patient, one of the most common questions we receive is “how does CyberKnifeî track my tumor?”ÃÂ
Using an advanced imaging and tracking system that constantly updates the tumor location throughout the treatment session, the CyberKnife machine continually monitors the location of tumors during treatment.
The technology compensates for normal patient movements, like breathing, ensuring that radiation beams are targeted to the tumor during treatment. This allows our physicians to treat difficult-to-reach tumors or those that can’t be removed safely with surgery. CyberKnife also significantly reduces treatment time for patients and minimizes radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissue by precisely targeting and delivering high-dose radiation from multiple angles.
If you or a loved has received a prostate cancer diagnosis, please call our center at (918) 949-6676 to find out if you are a candidate for CyberKnife treatment.
