CVS Plans to Stop Selling Tobacco Products by October 2014
CVS has announced that, by October 2014, it will stop selling cigarette and tobacco products in all locations nationwide, making it the first major drug store chain to pull cigarettes from its shelves. With tobacco remaining the No. 1 cause of preventable death in America, CVS determined that selling the harmful product contradicts the healthy message they are trying to establish.
Lung cancer is the most frequently treated disease at Oklahoma CyberKnife. The American Cancer Society estimates more than 3,300 new cases of lung cancer will be diagnosed in Oklahoma this year. We commend CVS for taking this step to reduce the prevalence of lung cancer nationwide.
